Tell the Escambia County School Board: No more book banning!

In July, the Escambia County School Board made the decision to remove hundreds of books from school libraries without evaluation. A majority of the titles removed highlighted experiences of marginalized communities. Most were removed simply because a single individual found them distasteful or because another county in the state removed it. This decision has restricted student access to engaging material that promotes literacy and encourages self-exploration and understanding of differing perspectives.  This is not only dangerous, but expensive. Over half a million dollars of taxpayer funds have already gone towards lawsuits regarding book removal, and more will be spent if changes are not made.Tell the school board no more book banning, and no more siphoning district funds from schools to defend this reprehensible practice. The books targeted are materials by or about queer and minority authors in particular, with hundreds being mislabeled as pornography and removed from library shelves.
